An optical smoke detector operates on the well-established light scatter principle. The sensing technology used is radically different from previous optical detectors and the sensing chamber contains an optical sensor which measures back-scattered light as well as the more usual forward-scattered light, offering the following benefits:
- Responds well to slow-burning, smouldering fires.
- Good performance with black as well as with white smoke.
- Transient rejection algorithms reduce false alarms.
Features
- Operating mode selection (flashing on LED, flashing on remote indicator)
- Optical chamber sensitivity adjustment
- 500 μm hole-diameter mesh insect screen
- Bicolour LED for identification after manual activation from the programmer
- Drift compensation for sensor drift caused by dust in the chamber
- Complete diagnostics, contamination level reading and values measured in real-time
- Memory of the smoke and temperature levels measured in the five-minute period prior to the last alarm
